About 65 percent of our education funding comes from state sources. These are taxes paid into the state and distributed to all 115 school districts and charter schools in the state.

The North Carolina Senate's recommended adjustments to the state budget for FY 2012-13 would increase spending by $210 million over the amount approved in last year's biennial budget, and by $470 million over the current 2011-12 spending total.
